Aspiring professional child model Mihir visited Studio B for his first ever headshot session and OH MY GOODNESS could he be any cuter? We did a little "Gap-esque" holiday card design featuring this sweet little 2-year-old and I can only imagine this will be just the beginning for him. Since we work with many youth models, I get asked a lot about how to get started, what is legitimate and what are the scams. I've said it before but it's worth repeating. There are a few reputable agencies with children's divisions that cater to the major advertisers in the Northwest. Here's the #1 rule...there is never any upfront costs above and beyond current portfolio pictures. Agents get paid a percentage of your income once they have sent you on an audition and you have secured the job. If you're asked upfront for money...these can be classes, tutorials or trainings...but they are not agents.
Nothing like having three handsome boys to make our new 2009 Holiday Card designs pop off the screen.  All of the Cantalini Boys are way too cute for their own good... Ryan, Sean & Kyle...each of them sporting dimples that I'm sure get them anything that they want at all times. (Oh and we are still running our Holiday Card Special, now through the 15th)
I had SO much fun with the Baur Family! They were such naturals in front of the camera, it was almost impossible for me to believe that this was their very first family portrait...EVER! Since I had massive (self imposed) pressure to make something amazing for them...I made sure to order perfect sunshine for the outdoor portion of the shoot :-) Okay...so clearly I had nothing to do with the beautiful day...but I did take full advantage of it. Loved the fun scarfs and the personal style of the entire family. Oh, and if son Alex is looking familiar it may be that you are remembering him from his awesome senior photo shoot on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Head to toe beautiful! These little girls were just pretty from every angle and I loved the styling that Mom did with the snuggly sweaters and cutie boots!
The Wood Family...they might officially take the title for my most adorable family of the season for me! The kids radiate joy and it's so obvious where it comes from...Mom Kristi and Dad Rick have such a warm & caring way about them. Oh...and again, on a completely unrelated note -- I wanted to point out the wardrobe selections here. For all of those Mom's looking for ideas for your own family portrait...here is a perfect example of coordinating the styles without feeling like everyone has to be twins -- the mixing of textures and subtle patterns was all pulled together perfectly using complimentary colors. (I'm guessing since Kristi is a designer...we shouldn't be surprised, right?)
Family portraits are ALWAYS unpredictable and then you throw in a toddler & two dogs...NOW you've got a party! I'm not even sure it can be described as "controlled chaos"...maybe just "crazy fun". I was especially excited that this year, Mom Nicole let me photograph her...I've been pleading for like 3 years to get her in front of the camera with her gorgeous kids (I'm sure you can see why).
Meet the Glavin's...don't they kind of look like the family that "comes in the frame"? At just 10 months, sweet little Lorelei looks so angelic here and the joy with which she flashes her 5 little teeth just makes you have to smile right back! Thought it would be fun to feature some of their session in one of our new 2009 holiday card designs...and yes, I'm spending WAY too much time creating these mail-able little masterpieces but...I love it, so here we go -- more to come!
