When the Whole Family Is Finally Together: Multi-Generational Family Portraits
If your family is finally going to be in the same place at the same time this holiday season, you probably already know how quickly that window can pass.
Grandparents are in town. Your kids are home from college. Siblings and their families have traveled in from different cities. There may be little ones, teenagers, adults, and maybe even a family dog involved. Everyone is together…and you want to capture it.
The good news? Yes, Studio B photographs big, multi-generational families all the time. In fact, our private downtown Issaquah studio is particularly well suited for exactly this kind of session. And perhaps more importantly, you don't have to figure out how to make it all work. That's our job.
THE GOOD NEWS: WE ARE POSING EXPERTS SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE
There is almost always someone in a family who says, “I hate having my picture taken.”
We get it! That's why our approach isn't about expecting everyone to suddenly become a professional model. It's about giving people enough direction that they don't have to know what to do.
We'll guide you through the entire experience, from the first portrait to the smaller combinations and candid moments in between. Our team will lead everyone into flattering, intentional positions so that the final portrait feels balanced and beautiful without feeling stiff.
We'll tell you where to stand, where to look, what to do with your hands, and when to move. We'll make small adjustments that you may never notice during the session but that make a significant difference in the finished photograph.
A Private Studio, Just for Your Family
When you bring your family to Studio B, you aren't sharing the space with another family or trying to navigate a busy public location.
Our downtown Issaquah studio is reserved privately for your session, giving your family room to relax, move around, and simply enjoy being together.
There is no worrying about strangers walking through the background, waiting for a public space to clear, or trying to coordinate everyone around changing weather. We can focus entirely on your family and creating portraits that feel polished, timeless, and completely you.
The Goal Is MORE THAN Just One Great Family Portrait
A large family portrait is important. But when everyone has traveled to be together, there are so many stories within the larger group.
Maybe it's Grandma with all of her grandchildren.
Maybe it's the four siblings who haven't all been together in years.
Maybe it's the newest generation sitting with the grandparents.
Maybe it's your entire family—the people who rarely manage to get everyone in the same room anymore.
We make time for those portraits, too.
Because years from now, the photograph you'll treasure may not be the one where everyone is looking at the camera. It might be the image of your parents surrounded by their grandchildren, or the way your children looked standing next to their cousins, or a photograph of the siblings who spent their childhood together and now live across the country.
Those are the photographs that become part of your family's history.
You Just Need to Get Everyone in the Same Room, we’ll handle the rest
Coordinating a large family gathering can already feel like a production. Your job isn't to add “professional photographer” to the list of things you have to manage.
Bring the family. We'll handle the rest.
From posing and lighting to organizing group combinations and making sure everyone feels comfortable, our team will guide you through the entire experience. You can relax, laugh, reconnect, and enjoy having your family together while we take care of creating the portraits.
Because when everyone is finally home for the holidays, you should be in the moment…not behind the camera trying to make sure everyone else is in it.
